That's a good question! I think, if my early Renaissance studies are correct, that umber is a mineral that is ground very fine and suspended in a medium (oil, acrylic, egg, etc.), producing...PAINT!!!
I saw you over on Bossy's map. Do you really live in a city named "fuquay-varina north carolina"? That's so nice - to have a place so much fancier than dull Vegas. But a lot of writing for return envelopes.
